SUNDAY, October 18, 2015 ~ Positivity Luncheon will follow worship service. After a light lunch, a brief gathering open to everyone will be held. Break-out groups will be invited to share positive things about York First. 9:00 am – Sunday School
10:30 am – Worship Service
Sanctuary: “God’s Love for the Lost”
Scripture: Luke 15: 11-32
Thoughts on the Word: The story of the Prodigal Son is so familiar to us and yet there are still lessons for us to learn. This week we are looking at the role of the older brother. In my thinking about this passage, we are the older brother. We are the established older church that has done the work of the kingdom of God for so many years. I want to consider this thought in the message for this Sunday. I also want to consider just what ending we might write to this open ended story. I invite you to think with and come prepared with how you might end the story.
OCTOBER: SPIRITUAL RENEWAL MONTH ~ During the month of October we will be emphasizing Spiritual Renewal. The Sermon series is based on Luke 15: 11-32, the story of the prodigal son.
TODAY the emphasis is on the lost, and is entitled “God’s Love for the Lost” and the final message on October 25 is entitled, “The Lost Son and the Dutiful Son.” – Larry Gibble, Renewal Team Communicator
FALL CONGREGATIONAL FORUM WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2015 Packets are available to be picked up on the table in the Narthex. There are three sections. The forum booklet, the affirmation of slate, and the treasurer report.
ATTENTION CHURCH MAILING LISTS USERS: Starting sometime yesterday, many of our mailing lists are not working. We do not know the reason why at this point.
The only lists working are the Prayer Concerns, Deacons, and Hospitality Team lists. The Prayer Shawl and Greeters lists have not been tested as of 7:00 A.m. this morning. All others are not working!
If you are attempting to email your usual groups, no delivery will be made.
Hopefully this situation can be corrected, but it might take a few days. In the meantime, alternate communications methods will be required.
You will be notified when the lists will again be working properly.
Good News: This has no effect on the general emailing lists managed and sent by Secretary Karen, such as this morning’s w-newsletter.
