Our Vision Statement: “To become a community of committed Christians who Love God, Share Christ, and Serve the World”
Our Mission Statement: “People dedicated to Spiritual Growth, Loving Relationship, and Sacrificial Service”
SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2016
9:00 a.m. – Sunday School
10:30 a.m. Worship Service
– Sanctuary: “I and the Father are One”
– Scripture: John 10:22-30 & Isaiah 50:4-9
Thoughts on the Word: Last Sunday we began a look at the example of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, and his example of servant-leadership that we are to follow. We will continue our study of his style of leadership this Sunday with a look at the areas of Listening and the Manner of our Love. Last Sunday we briefly examined what it means for us to be Called of God and Strengthened by God for the work of ministry and how important it is for us to be Spiritually Centered in Christ Jesus.
When we think of listening as believers, we first must listen to God. We cannot stress enough in our over stimulated world the need to come away from all the distractions, and just listen to the “still small voice” of God speaking to us. Likewise, listening to others becomes increasingly important as God speaks to us through them. The manner of love with which we serve is demonstrated in kindness and humility. Rather than overpower people, we are to respect people and treat them with love. In this way we fulfill the “Great Commission” of “doing unto others as you have them do unto you.”
Next week: Sermon title: “Living it” Text: John 13:1-35

Egg Hunt A Success ~ A hearty THANK YOU to all the folks who helped to make the Easter Egg hunt successful again this year. Everyone including 60 children, 51 parents and grandparents, as well as many helpers, all had a great time. Thanks to those who volunteered to stuff and hide the eggs, shop for novelties or stuffed animals, cook and serve the meal, lead the crafts, and set up and tear down furniture. Also, we were grateful to those who donated items or money. You were much appreciated, First Church folks. ~ Nancy Gipe
I want to thank everyone for all the prayers, cards and visits during recovery from my surgery. It was completely successful and I was released from my surgeon last week. However, complete recovery will take some time. First Church and it’s people have become an enduring source of comfort for me. Your kindness shows we are all walking in our Savior’s footsteps. ~Terry Yeager
