Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Opportunity – if anyone has interest in serving on Saturday morning July 21st at a Habitat for Humanity home construction site, please contact Pastor Joel very soon. We have an opportunity to partner with another local church and contribute to the work of building homes for people in need. Thank you! We hope to have a team of 5 people to serve.

JULY 4-8, 2018 ~ The Church of the Brethren Annual Conference will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio. Nancy Jones is serving as our delegate this year. Please hold the work of the conference and its attendees in prayer this week, and feel free to tune in via video feed and view news updates at www.brethren.org/ac all week long. The conference theme is “Living Parables” and worship services are every evening at 6:45 PM.
JULY 11, 2018 – Vacation Bible School 2018: “Peace Lab” – We will be holding a meeting for all leaders and volunteers on Wednesday July 11 at 6:30pm. All who are willing to serve should attend this meeting for the sake of preparation and coordinating program and responsibilities at VBS. Also, volunteers are still needed to serve as “group leaders” for VBS, a position that requires no advance preparation and simply accompanies children to various activities each evening. JULY 12, 2018~Weeknights for Women ~ Ladies, Join us this summer as we engage in the video/study guide discussion of Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist. If you feel exhausted from the pressures and expectations of life, this group is for you. If not, and you’ve got it all together, then this group needs you all the more. We will meet Thursday evenings in the church lounge from 6:30-8:00. (July 12, 19, 26). Please sign up in the gathering area. All participants will need the Present Over Perfect Study Guide. Reading the book Present Over Perfect is optional. Please pass this invitation on. Bring your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers. Just sign them up too. JULY 12, 2018 ~Come to the OWLS Gathering on Thursday July 12 at noon in the Homebuilders Classroom 154 for lunch and an hour of musical entertainment from the fabulous 50’s. Local entertainer Kerry White will be singing many of the familiar songs from that era and intersperse some comments about then-current events. It should be a program you don’t want to miss, and we would like to have a good turn-out to welcome Kerry. Bring your bag lunch at noon. Dessert and drink will be provided. Or just bring yourself at 12:30 and enjoy the music and trivia from the 50’s! Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex by July 8 if you plan to attend, so we know how many to prepare for.

Sign up in the narthex to make a casserole or to work at the Soup Kitchen on Friday, July 13, 2018 (10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) PLEASE add your name and number of casseroles, to the SIGN UP sheet, so we can let the Soup Kitchen know how many casseroles to expect.

To the family of Linda Mioduszewski (Brenneman) has died after fighting stomach cancer. Linda and Tom, children Jennifer and Scott were members of York First until 25 years ago when they moved to Kentucky.

AUGUST 16, 2018 – The Mel Markey Memorial Golf Benefit (formerly the FORE Children Golf Benefit), Thursday, August 16, 2018, Hanover Country Club, 4 Person Scramble, 12:30 p.m.—2:00 p.m. Registration, 2:00 p.m. Shotgun Start – Individual Golfer: $100 Foursome: $380 Registration Deadline is July 21, 2018 This event supports our services for children and their families: Art and play therapy for children up to age 18, Crisis nursery respite care for children ages newborn to 6, Family advocacy for families caught in a cycle of crisis, Parent support groups for any parent struggling with raising their children – Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Divisions – Golfer registration includes cart, greens fees, range balls, snacks, prizes and dinner following the tournament. Mulligans and Powerballs will be available. See brochure and registration form on the bulletin board.

Afternoons and evenings are set aside for visiting those in need, for meetings, and for other pastoral duties. Pastor Joel is also available for Pastoral Counseling by appointment. By the way, HIPA laws prevent the hospital from contacting the pastor when you are admitted, so you will need to let hospital staff know that you would like the hospital to contact your pastor.
