SEPTEMBER 14-15, 2018 – DISTRICT CONFERENCE for the South PA District of the Church of the Brethren is being hosted by the Newville Church of the Brethren on Friday and Saturday Sept 14-15. Please hold all leaders and attendees in prayer for wise discernment, decision-making, and beneficial reports. Don Hubbell is serving as Moderator for the conference, and delegates representing York First Church are Becky Wenger, Brad Nicholas, Arlene Martin, and Pastor Joel Gibbel.

➤THIS SUNDAY, Sept. 16, will be the last Sunday we will be collecting for the 5 K Run held at 8:00 am, Sat., Sept. 22. Let’s take it over the Top of our goal for $3,000.00! That amount will be Matched by our Generous Donor! Thanks to All!!
➤There will be a van going to the BDRA in Lebanon on Sat., Sept. 22, if there is anyone interested. It will depart from the Church 8:30 a.m., and leave the fairgrounds approx. 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. If interested call 717-767-4512, or sign up at the table in the lobby this Sunday.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2018 – INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE PRAYER SERVICE – We will be hosting a special service of worship and prayer on Sunday evening Sept 23 at 6:30 PM. We hope to hold this service outdoors on the lawn, so please plan to bring lawn chairs and join us for a time of spirited singing, prayer, and reflection. A snack and time for fellowship will follow.
Nadine Diehl Estate Auction: The First Auction will be held on Sat., Sept. 15th at 8:30 am. The items for this auction include all items related to quilting, sewing, all of her needle work, finished and unfinished items. This includes all her needlework, quilts, wall hangings, pillows, sewing machines, notions & supplies, as well as her jewelry and her automobile. The Second Auction will be held on Sat., Oct. 6th at 8:30 am. This auction will be for household items and furniture. These auctions will be held at the Steve Farmer Auction, Main St., Red Lion. SEPTEMBER 29, 2018 – COMPELLING VISION SESSION – York First Church is hosting a Listening and Visioning Session on Saturday afternoon Sept 29 at 1:30 PM. All members are encouraged to attend, as are many Brethren from nearby congregations. Donita Keister, current Annual Conference Moderator, will provide leadership and direction for all who gather. These sessions will play an important role in the greater work of the Church of the Brethren, which has committed to a process of discerning a “Compelling Vision” for our ministry and mission in the years to come. Please plan to attend as we seek God’s leading together.

OCTOBER 20, 2018 – CAMP EDER Festival and Benefit Auction, Sat., Oct. 20th, 10:00 – 4:00, Live and Silent Auction (Auction begins at 10:30 am), Pig Roast, Turkey Feast, Lots of Kid’s Activities, Bake Sale, Apple Dumplings, Apple Bombs, Candy Treasure Hunt, Petting Zoo, Food Concessions, Live Music, Local Vendors. Proceeds go toward our scholarship fund & flood repair. The scholarship fund ensures every child, regardless of ability to pay, can attend camp….because THE GOSPEL CHANGES EVERYTHING. ~ See poster on bulletin board for additional information. TRICK OR TRUNK: Tuesday, October 24, 5:30 PM. Come join us for this annual community event! Volunteers are needed to decorate trunks and distribute candy/trinkets to the children, assist with light snacks in Fellowship Hall, direct cars and participants in the parking lot, assist with cleanup. Signup sheets are available in the narthex.

Afternoons and evenings are set aside for visiting those in need, for meetings, and for other pastoral duties. Pastor Joel is also available for Pastoral Counseling by appointment. By the way, HIPA laws prevent the hospital from contacting the pastor when you are admitted, so you will need to let hospital staff know that you would like the hospital to contact your pastor.
