The Hospitality and Fellowship Team are looking for interested persons to join the Kitchen Committee or be a greeter Sunday mornings. The Kitchen Committee assists with events, typically on a quarterly basis. Greeters are asked to greet one Sunday a month either before Sunday School or Worship. If you are interested or have questions, please see Tim Beckwith.

OCTOBER 20, 2018 – CAMP EDER Festival and Benefit Auction, Sat., Oct. 20th, 10:00 – 4:00, Live and Silent Auction (Auction begins at 10:30 am), Pig Roast, Turkey Feast, Lots of Kid’s Activities, Bake Sale, Apple Dumplings, Apple Bombs, Candy Treasure Hunt, Petting Zoo, Food Concessions, Live Music, Local Vendors. Proceeds go toward our scholarship fund & flood repair. The scholarship fund ensures every child, regardless of ability to pay, can attend camp….because THE GOSPEL CHANGES EVERYTHING. ~ See poster on bulletin board for additional information. OCTOBER 20, 2018 – You are invited to the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown College for a Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 20 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Activities include quilting, crafts for children, and music groups. Free homemade ice cream and other snacks will be served. WE NEED YOU TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! Volunteers are needed..
OCTOBER 24, 2018 – Trick or Trunk ~ Wednesday, October 24, 5:30 PM. Come join us for this annual community event! Volunteers are needed to decorate trunks and distribute candy/trinkets to the children, assist with light snacks in Fellowship Hall, direct cars and participants in the parking lot, assist with cleanup. Signup sheets are available in the narthex.
OCTOBER 27, 2018 – Neighbor Nites ~ “COCO” the Movie – 6:30 pm – Scott Krauser, principal, York Suburban Middle School-Scott will introduce this Disney animated contemporary classic. It’s an innovative exploration of Mexican culture and its entertaining and imaginative musical appreciation of the afterlife. Come and help yourself to the endless supply of popcorn. Free.
OCTOBER 28, 2018 – CDC Sunday ~ We plan to welcome children and staff from our Child Development Center to join us for worship next Sunday. We will hear the children sing, recognize staff for their service, and have an opportunity to view children’s artwork as well!

LOOKING AHEAD. . . . . . . .
NOVEMBER 8, 2018 ~ OWLS NOVEMBER ACTIVITY – You are invited to gather with the OWLS and visit Jay Crist’s vehicle museum on Thursday November 8. We will meet at the museum at 11:00 am or meet at the church at 10:30 am to car pool. The museum address is 88 South Main Street, Manchester, PA. The building is a working shop with multi display rooms. The floors are level and there are restrooms. Chairs are available in the display areas. Dress is casual, and there is some walking. Jay will give us a brief introduction before touring. When we are finished with the tour we will be on our own for lunch at a local restaurant.

Sign up in the narthex to make a casserole or to work at the Soup Kitchen on Friday, November 9, 2018 (10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) PLEASE add your name and number of casseroles, to the SIGN UP sheet, so we can let the Soup Kitchen know how many casseroles to expect.
NOVEMBER 13, 2018 ~ LADIES’ BIBLE STUDY
Ladies, it’s time to think about our next study. “Pull Up a Chair – You, Me and the Gospel of John” by Lorie Looney Kune which walks us through the life of Jesus Christ. This study is open to ladies who want to learn more about the Bible, their spiritual walk with Christ or just want to join a great group of committed Christian women. We welcome any newcomers.
This study will begin on November 13 with November 6 as a bye week. Books must be ordered by October 28. Please let Pat Trimmer know if you want a book by that date. CONTACTING THE PASTOR: Pastor Joel can be reached most mornings in the church office Monday—Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Afternoons and evenings are set aside for visiting those in need, for meetings, and for other pastoral duties. Pastor Joel is also available for Pastoral Counseling by appointment. If you need to reach the pastor outside of office hours, his home phone number is (717) 318-5442, and his cell number is (717) 271-4888 . You can also email him at pastor@yorkfirst.org. By the way, HIPAA laws prevent the hospital from contacting the pastor when you are admitted, so you will need to let hospital staff know that you would like the hospital to contact your pastor.
