Thoughts on the Word: Where do we turn when we are feeling “down and out?” The passage from Mark’s Gospel for this week gives us two stories of people who turn to Jesus in their moments of deep desperation. Hope is crucial to life. There is no doubt about it, we all need hope in our lives. Where can we turn, to whom can we go? As with all things, Jesus is the answer. Touch the hem of his garment, go to him when all hope is gone, but go to him! Even if life is going along ok and your hope is strong, go to him and be renewed.

WOW! WHAT AN AMAZING YARD SALE… OF COURSE! OUR FINAL TOTAL FOR OUR YARD SALE COMES OUT TO ……………… DRUM ROLL please!!!! $ 4,669.70 which is $ 484.55 more than last year. THIS IS PHENOMENAL!!!! All monies go into an account that will benefit our youth for Youth Conference. And we could not have done it without the many hands and hearts that spent hours pricing, loading and unloading, setting up, taking money, helping with food, or watching the doors, but also a big thank you to those who donated – clothing, home-goods, baked goods, and monetary donations. We just can’t thank you enough for all the good that came out of this yard sale this year. ~ Kathy & Dolly

BEGIN NEW YEAR –
September 15, 2015 – Lesson #10 “I will Lead You Home”
First Church is beginning an effort aimed at strengthening marriages. We will be establishing a new couples small group called “Two to One”, as well as periodically including a “Marriage Thought for the Day” in e-news. Questions/comments/suggestions can be directed to Carol and Ken via phone or email (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com).
Marriage Thought for the Day: Depending on what we read or to whom we listen, we’ll find many “keys” to a good marriage. Different “keys” will be meaningful to some couples but not meaningful to others. We’ll write these with the hope that every once in a while one will strike a chord! This week, the quote below is from James, by Max Lucado. We are reading this book in Salt and Light Sunday School class and the quote really hit home for us because this concept applies to all relationships, including our marriages. The example being discussed was Jesus washing the disciples feet, referring to our quote for the week:
“Relationships don’t thrive because the guilty are punished but because the innocent are merciful.” The genius of Jesus’ example is that the burden of bridge-building falls on the strong one, not the weak one. The one who is innocent is the one who makes the gesture. And you know what happens? More often than not, if the one in the right volunteers to wash the feet of the one in the wrong, both parties get on their knees.

Information on the bus trip to the Annual Conference July 11-15, Tampa, Florida This is to inform you that I will be hosting an Elite Coach to the July 11 – 15 Annual Conference in Tampa, Florida this summer. People have been inquiring about this possibility.
With a minimum of 35 participants, the cost will be $789 per person double occupancy and that is all inclusive, conference lodging, enroute lodging, ,transportation and driver gratuity. It does not include meals (except breakfasts along the way) while traveling or at conference.
Since reservations for lodging open in late February, I cannot assure A.C. lodging, but I have requested and am assured that our conference stay will be at the Marriott Hotel which is across the street from the convention center. This trip of approximately 1100 miles will take two and one-half days with stops along the way. We will leave July 9 from Brethren Village at 7:30 a.m., pick up people along the way and return on July 17 around 6 p.m. We will take appropriate breaks but it will not be much of a sightseeing tour.
