Our Vision Statement: “To become a community of committed Christians who Love God, Share Christ, and Serve the World”
Our Mission Statement: “People dedicated to Spiritual Growth, Loving Relationship, and Sacrificial Service”
SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2015 9:00 am – Sunday School
10:30 am – Worship Service- Special Music – Emma Stoolmaker & Cathy Carson
Sanctuary: “Have I Not Chosen You?”
Scripture: John 6: 59 – 69
Thoughts on the Word: There is a common thread flowing through the other lectionary texts for this Sunday. Those texts include, 1 Kings 8:22-30, 41-43; Psalm 84; and Ephesians 6:10-20. The common thread is prayer. The passage from John’s gospel for today speaks to the results of a life lead by the Holy Spirit which in my opinion is a life of prayer. When life presents the believer with a difficult situation, how should the believer, the follower of Jesus Christ respond? Throw up our hands in despair and accept whatever comes? No, we should turn to the very source of our strength and peace, our relationship with the living God through his presence in our lives! Our Gospel text from John stops in verse 69, but verse 70 says, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”
