UNDAY, MARCH 20, 2016 ~ PALM SUNDAY
SPRING LOVE FEAST & ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING
9:00 a.m. – Sunday School
10:30 a.m. Worship Service
– Sanctuary: “Who is This”
– Scripture: Luke 22-23
Thoughts on the Word: This week is Palm Sunday and we are reading from two chapters of the Gospel of Luke. Chapters 22 and 23 give us the story of what is known as the “triumphal entry into Jerusalem” in church history. But suppose for a moment that it was a counter march to the entrance of the Roman governor Pilate. That it really wasn’t that big of an event after all. That people, that pilgrims, coming for the high holy days of the Passover, just came out to see the show and got caught up in the moment? Just suppose? Who is this anyway?
Easter Sunday messages: Easter Dawn service, “Oh Happy Day” Mark 16:1-7
Easter Service at 10:30, “Doubt, Faith, & Faithfulness” Luke 24:1-12
One Great Hour of Sharing reaches those near and far, sometimes changing the life of someone in distress in your own community, while at other times impacting the lives of those we may never meet but who are in need of our compassion. God provides the resources so that we can give back. It’s not the size of the gift that matters; it’s that we give of what we have. We’re simply giving back to God what is already God’s—and that means everyone has a gift to bring!
Gifts given through this special offering empower ministries like the Church of the Brethren’s Global Mission and Service, Congregational Life Ministries, Brethren Disaster Ministries, Brethren Volunteer Service, workcamps, the Global Food Crisis Fund, and many others.
