River Crossing Playback Theater, “When I was a Kid”, 6:30 pm, Sanctuary ~Tell a story from your childhood and then watch it performed right in front of your eyes, improv style. OCTOBER 13, 2018 – Apple Butter Festival, Sat., Oct. 13, 8am to 1pm, brought to you by The Friends of CKV a Brethren Home Community. Join us for: Fresh apple butter, indoor yard sale, fresh baked goods, used books and new this year…..soup sale (orders picked up on Oct. 13th by 12:30 pm) Volunteers needed to bake, peel apples, to stir apple butter, and people willing to help with set-up and take-down after the event. Call Volunteer Services to help at 717-624-5227 so that we can have the most successful Apple Butter Festival ever at Cross Keys Village.
OCTOBER 20, 2018 – CAMP EDER Festival and Benefit Auction, Sat., Oct. 20th, 10:00 – 4:00, Live and Silent Auction (Auction begins at 10:30 am), Pig Roast, Turkey Feast, Lots of Kid’s Activities, Bake Sale, Apple Dumplings, Apple Bombs, Candy Treasure Hunt, Petting Zoo, Food Concessions, Live Music, Local Vendors. Proceeds go toward our scholarship fund & flood repair. The scholarship fund ensures every child, regardless of ability to pay, can attend camp….because THE GOSPEL CHANGES EVERYTHING. ~ See poster on bulletin board for additional information. ➤PIES, PIES, PIES – CAMP EDER FALL FEST! ~ SING A SONG of sixpence a pocket full of rye, Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. Pies for the Fall Fest are what we need, So get out that rolling pin and do a good deed. Cherry, apple, blueberry or peach – it’s all for the Fest! So remember – no blackbirds are needed – because it’s all for the best. I do hope your pies will have fruit and not blackbirds! FALL FEST IS APPROACHING at Camp Eder. So any pie is acceptable that needs NO REFRIGERATION. The Festival is held on October 20 at Camp Eder. We are in need of 20 pies. Can you do it? Lets really roll out the dough $$$. OCTOBER 20, 2018 – Neighbor Nites – 6:30 pm ~My Family Came From……….Bring a favorite dish! Celebrate your home country, ethnic heritage, or grandma’s cooking. OCTOBER 20, 2018 – You are invited to the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown College for a Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 20 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Activities include quilting, crafts for children, and music groups. Free homemade ice cream and other snacks will be served. SYMPATHY AND CONDOLENCES. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
To Gail Rutland and her family on the passing of her husband, Ron Rutland. Ron passed away September 27, 2018.
A memorial service for Ron will be held here at York First COB (sanctuary) on Friday, October 19. Visitation from 1:00-2:00pm, service to begin at 2:00pm. Dessert reception to follow.

WE NEED YOU TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! Volunteers are needed..
OCTOBER 24, 2018 ~ Trick or Trunk – Wednesday, October 24, 5:30 PM. Come join us for this annual community event! Volunteers are needed to decorate trunks and distribute candy/trinkets to the children, assist with light snacks in Fellowship Hall, direct cars and participants in the parking lot, assist with cleanup. Signup sheets are available in the narthex.
OCTOBER 27, 2018 – Neighbor Nites ~ “COCO” the Movie – 6:30 pm – Scott Krauser, principal, York Suburban Middle School-Scott will introduce this Disney animated contemporary classic. It’s an innovative exploration of Mexican culture and its entertaining and imaginative musical appreciation of the afterlife. Come and help yourself to the endless supply of popcorn. Free.

Afternoons and evenings are set aside for visiting those in need, for meetings, and for other pastoral duties. Pastor Joel is also available for Pastoral Counseling by appointment. If you need to reach the pastor outside of office hours, his home phone number is (717) 318-5442, and his cell number is (717) 271-4888 . You can also email him at pastor@yorkfirst.org. By the way, HIPA laws prevent the hospital from contacting the pastor when you are admitted, so you will need to let hospital staff know that you would like the hospital to contact your pastor.
