Leah J. Hileman is an ordained minister, indie recording artist, and freelance writer. She is Minister of Music at Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren, the author of nearly 300 songs, and has recorded 6 albums. She is a member of Bittersweet Gospel Band, a former member of Big D & the Good News Blues, and a charter member of the Florida Christian Musician Network.

AUGUST 11, 2015 – Ladies Bible Study on Tuesday, August 11 at 10 a.m in the Lounge. – we will be having a Sandwich Contest to coincide with our lesson on “Arrogance”. So if you plan to be part of this study on this day, please prepare your best sandwich, cut it in fours, and bring it along. We will then have judging before lunch. Elizabeth Eisenhart will be bring her delicious chicken corn soup and homemade pickles to share with all these wonderful sandwiches at noon. AUGUST 13, 2015 – OWLS PICNIC ~ It is time for the OWLS (Older, Wiser Loving SENIORS) INDOOR SUMMER PICNIC. Join us as we gather on Thursday August 13 at NOON in the Homebuilders Classroom 154 for lots of picnic goodies. We stay inside so we don’t have to worry about the hot sun or be bothered by ants! Sign up in the narthex to make a casserole or to work at the Soup Kitchen on Friday, August 14, 2015, (10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) PLEASE add your name and number of casseroles, to the SIGN UP sheet, so we can let the Soup Kitchen know how many casseroles to expect.
AUGUST 16, 2015 – EYN Fundraiser event @ Bermudian COB, 1:30 pm- 4:30 PM, Location: The Gathering Place, The purpose is to raise $ for EYN Church of the Brethren in Nigeria. Featuring: Karen Knight, former Sight-n-Sound singer and actress, will be speaking and singing. The afternoon will be filled with pictures and music of the problems Nigerians face. A movie will be shown. A Very LIGHT refreshment will be available on each table for the afternoon. This event will be by ticket only with a $10/person/ticket donation ALL going to EYN church. ***Additional donating may be done at anytime by check to: Bermudian COB (memo section: EYN Fundraiser) For tickets contact: Donna Shive 428-3344.
MANY, MANY THANKS to everyone who helped with the VBS dinner! With helpers like Galen and Pat Trimmer (snow cone king aka hot dog master and snow cone queen), Elizabeth Eisenhart (lady with multiple talents and endurance beyond belief), Melinda Carlson (“just keep me busy”), Brian LeGrand (hot dog master), Lisa Striebig, Judy Deitch & Carol Gordon (great decorators and overall organizers), Darrell and Nancy Gipe, Gail and all the people who donated food, we couldn’t go wrong and just had a great night. Special thanks to Scott for his help and setting up and cleaning up and to Dawn (daycare) for making all the mac &cheese. It was wonderful seeing so many people from the church attend. CASH FOR CAUSES
It has been just a little over 4 years since we started our Cash for Causes program by selling Giant & Weis gift cards.
I am happy to tell you that to date we have sold $140,000 worth of cards. Our total contributions to Camp Eder/Children’s Aid Society/New Life for Girls for these 4 years has been $7000 and Treasurer, Sheryl makes quarterly payments to each agency.
Thank you for your continued support of this program.
I have $100/$50/$25 cards available. Please see me on Sundays to purchase them.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY – will begin a new session every Tuesday morning starting Sept., 15 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the church lounge. We are currently studying Max Lucado’s “Traveling Light” and we are always looking for new ladies to join us. So if you want to dig deeper into your own faith and strengthen your walk with Christ plus meet new sisters – this is the place to be on Tuesday mornings. Pat Trimmer and Dolly Furst are the leaders of this group. If you wish to participate, please let one of them know to order you a book. Cost is $12. Pat or Dolly

AUGUST 26, 2015 – Senior Citizen’s Day – Schedule: 9:30 am Meet & Greet, Continental Breakfast, 10:00 am Morning Activities- Tom Jolin is an instrument builder specializing in the hammer dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, and the bowed psaltery. His programs include traditional American music, mixing vocals with a number of instruments. Tom has recorded 8 recordings and brings us a show full of Americana & “old timey” tunes laced with a rich and enjoyable humor. 12:00 pm Lunch (Menu: Barbecue Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Coleslaw, Baked Beans, Corn Muffins, Dessert), 1:00 pm Afternoon Program – Nancy Shoap shares through her program and uplifting music how she learned to rely and trust the Lord to heal her. She was inspired to write two books and create an outreach minis-try giving her testimony about her miraculous healings that gave “new sight” and focus to a seemingly hopeless situation. Following the program there will be a book signing for both books. ($15/Person covers all food & activities)

1. Rent a space to sell your arts and crafts. 2. Share a meal. Have one at your house or buy tickets for someone else’s home, $ 20.00 each. 3. Make and donate a quilt for the quilt auction. 4. Baking cakes, pies, cookies, breads, etc. (pick up pans after Aug. 16) 5. Donations of items for the Main Auction. 6. Donate new toys, books, puzzles, etc. for the children’s auction. 7. Bring gently used items for the Children’s Store. 8. Make one or more theme basket worth at least $ 35.00 or donate money. 9. First Annual 5K race. All ages. Runners or walkers. Cash prizes. Tee Shirt. Be a Sponser. 10. Help — Set up for Auction on Thursday, Sept. 24 and/or tear down after on Sat., Sept. 26th.
