– Scripture: John 13:1-35
Thoughts on the Word: This week we will be talking about living out our faith and what that means for us as we seek to be Servant Leaders in our lives, community, places of work and play, indeed every aspect of our lives. When we think about the term, Servant Leader, it might seem a bit strange or perhaps even a mistake in terms. Yet the very people we revere, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Theresa, to name just a couple of them, are people who determined to use their lives to help others. No, they were not perfect people, no one is accept for our prime example of Servant Leadership, Jesus.
Our world is at war with itself whether we realize it our not. One vein of thought says, “If it feels good do it.” Or perhaps whatever seems right to you is ok. We call this school of thought, hedonism. The other vein of thought is what we see in the example of Jesus’ life and in the lives of so many others. Seek to be a blessing to others and help lift them up in their struggles and journey, and in so doing you actually lift yourself up as well. The Bible is filled with examples of both kinds of people. We must ask the question, which one are we?
Next Sunday: May 1st, Youth Sunday, Garrett Page will be bringing the morning message.
